SimCity creator Will Wright often credits his Montessori roots for the entrepreneurism and creativity that characterize his work today.
His games push the players to make predictions and to take risks. The players may achieve their goal or fail miserably and then get up and try it again, albeit a little wiser. His computer simulations incorporate all the captivating features of video games minus the blood and guts.
Gamers persist despite frustration.
Each failed attempt is another opportunity to rethink your strategy, test out another hypothesis and try again. And gamers do try again and again and again-sometimes they win, sometimes they lose. Sometimes a success comes with only one try, other times with multiple tries. Gamers persist.

Seems to me education can learn something from these game designers.
